ADVOCACY
POLLING
JEI provides the best available data on the American Jewish electorate. JEI commissions non-partisan polls of Jewish voters exploring the nuances of issues related to Jewish voting behavior. This helps to inform public discourse in advance of elections, including with which political parties Jewish voters identify, about which issues Jewish voters care most when casting their ballots, which key public figures they view favorably and unfavorably, and where they stand on key issues at any given time.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
JEI’s message to the Jewish community:
Irrespective of individual political leanings, participation in our democracy is a core Jewish value and an essential aspect of Jewish American identity. Utilizing media resources, JEI crafts tailored messaging aimed at specific segments of the Jewish electorate. During elections, JEI reaches out to all Jewish voters—including newly eligible and millennial voters—through social media, providing information about voter registration, polling locations, and the importance of civic engagement. In the last two general elections and targeted runoffs, JEI launched ad campaigns to encourage young Jewish voters to register and cast their ballots.
GET OUT THE VOTE
Jewish Americans represent a critically important segment of the American electorate. JEI believes that it is important for Jewish voices to be heard at the polling place in order to ensure that the community's concerns are adequately represented by elected officials. In the 2018 and 2022 midterm elections, JEI initiated nonpartisan Get Out The Vote (GOTV) campaigns aimed at maximizing turnout among Jewish Americans nationally. JEI’s GOTV messaging targeted younger voters, who are less likely to vote, and focused on the importance of civic participation.
RESEARCH
JEI commissions polls and national profiles of the Jewish electorate and issues reports on the political leanings of Jewish voters in swing states, as well as young voters (18-35) and Independents. Since 2018, the organization continues to be engaged in qualitative research and polling on the rise of antisemitism in the United States. This data, along with our polling, continues to help to inform the public conversation surrounding the Jewish vote and received widespread media coverage.
One of JEI’s recent initiatives is the first ever comprehensive national study of Jewish demographic distribution aligned with the newly redrawn congressional districts in every state following the 2020 census. This 2024 year-long research gathered detailed data of the geographic distribution of the Jewish electorate at the congressional district level. The results of this research now provide critically important insights for anyone seeking to understand and engage with specific demographic segments at a granular level when available - age, income, education, geographic location, cultural background, voting patterns, and political leaning preferences. This information is critical in expanding the public’s understanding of the Jewish electorate.
